THE FIRST BULGARIAN POSTAGE STAMP CELEBRATING EASTER

A sweet Easter rabbit, a cart full of coloured eggs and the figure of Jesus Christ suffused with light - these traditional symbols have been used by artist Venelin Valkanov for the pictorial representation on the first Bulgarian postage stamp dedicated to the great Christian festival.

This issue, with a face value of 120 levs, was validated on 27 March. The number of circulated pieces is 300 thousand, which is usual for stamps circulation in this country during the recent years.

To the event of Easter the Committee of Posts and Telecommunications validated also an illustrated cover and a special postmark.
