Nadezhda Mikhailova  /Nadezhda Neynsky/
Nadezhda Nikolova. Mikhailova was born in Sofia on 9 August, 1962. She received a university degree in Spanish philology.
and then worked as a teacher in Spanish.
1991 - director of UDF press centre during the election campaign for the Thirty-sixth National Assembly.
1991 - 1992 - spokeswoman  for the UDF government headed by Philip Dimitrov.
1991-1994 - director of the UDF press centre.
Deputy in the 37th National Assembly.
1995 - vice president of the UDF.
1997 - vice-president of the UDF, deputy to the 38th National Assembly.
Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In February 1999 she was elected, for a three-year term, vice-president of the European People's Party at the 13th Congress of the EPP in Brussels. Mikhailova is the first East-European politician to hold this post. Her election had been strongly recommended? by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar.
Married, with two children. Proficiency in English, Spanish and Russian.

2001 - Deputy to the 39 National Assembly.

2004 - elected leader of the UDF; confrontation with former Prime Minister and UDF leader Ivan Kostov (who heads a group of MPs that leave the UDF parliamentary group and later form a new political party - Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria).

2005 - Deputy to the 40 National Assembly. Stepped down from the leader's post, replaced by Petar Stoyanov.

December 2005 - as a result of her disagreement with P. Stoyanov's policy of seeking closer collaboration with NDSV, she joins the founders of the Right Alternative Alliance within the UDF and is elected member of its national leadership.


Chair of the Institute for Democracy and Stability in South-East Europe (2004- ). Member of the International Advisory Committee to the Democracy Coalition Project, in partnership with Bertelsmann Foundation, Freedom House and Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (2006- ). Member of the Advisory Group for Southern Leaders' Round Tables (SLRT) to the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation (2006- ). Chair of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bulgaria (2007- ).


October 7, 2008 - decorated with the  Knight of the Legion of Honour (France).


Special golden distinction of the US Academy of Achievements; Order of the Kingdom of Denmark, First Class; medal awarded by the Republic of Malta; Badge of Honour, Venice;  Cross of the order for public service awarded by the King of Spain; B'nai B'rith medal of tolerance.

2009 - elected Member of the European Parliament in the group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats)


Married, with two daughters.

In 2009 she remarried and is already known as Nadezhda Neynsky.
